Welcome to our experiential retreat! We look forward to spending precious time together at Sichow Educational Foundation. At this healing retreat in the forests of Sichów Duży, we expect to:
Explore our beliefs about the nature of reality and survival beyond death
Develop insights into cultural perspectives around mental well being, especially for new migrants and refugees
Gain confidence in ways of working with clients who have altered states of consciousness or who have experiences of consciousness beyond death
The retreat offers space to discuss topics in an open participatory and non-judgemental way. We aspire to bridge the paradigms around health, as we explore what we believe happens after death, consciousness beyond, or ancestral spirits. We aspire to encourage ancient healing.
The retreat is for people like us, people who have unusual experiences, practitioners, peers, therapists, mental health staff, and anyone interested in ancestral memories. We explore our beliefs about where memories come from. Are they stored in our bodies or our minds, or elsewhere? How do we address unspoken memories, or how do memories we remain silent about affect us? Our intention is to explore an educational gap, and acknowledge the clash of beliefs between those who hold different paradigms for understanding health, and to invite healing to occur.
We aspire to create a bridge between mainstream education about health and what people really do for their well being. We explore how shamans, psychics, and mediums might respond. Our society is very divided about explanatory models for mental wellbeing, and we acknowledge that with colonisation and an influx of new migrants and refugees, it is essential for us to understand cultural and spiritual explanations for what it means to be a human being. This is important in the field of mental health, and for those who have out of body or near death experiences. Our long term aim is to improve quality of life for practitioners, clients, and us, to enhance social healing and global well being. CPD certificates are available on request.
This open participatory retreat is facilitated by Dr Natalie Tobert, a medical anthropologist with original fieldwork experience in Africa and India. She has worked in UK with new migrant and refugee populations. She teaches in medical schools, hospitals, and universities, and has facilitated workshops in Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, and California. She is passionately interested in spirituality, consciousness, health and social well being.
Natalie’s most recent book “Cultural Perspectives on Mental Wellbeing” was written to accompany her training seminars. It brings fresh perspectives to the dialogue on global health. She also has a published book, based on her travels in India, entitled “Spiritual Psychiatries” which explores the transferability of Indian perspectives.
The Sichów Educational Foundation is located in a historic mansion within a natural parkland of ancient trees, set in a glorious forested area, 100 km from Kraków. Our hosts Paul and Amber Kieniewicz offer us hospitality that reminds us of the old days of Polish manor houses, with tasty food, lovingly prepared. There are spacious meeting rooms with natural lighting and outside there is a mature private woodland with many paths, to encourage peace, quiet concentration and inspiration.
Our hosts aspire to restore vitality to the buildings and their grounds, after they languished in ruins for decades, once occupied by Paul’s ancestors (some of whom were removed during Nazi times). Paul and Amber introduce to the Manor Houses and their profound history. Our group will stay comfortably at the conference centre, ideal for educational and cultural meetings, meditation or retreats.
We will dine together eating nourishing, fresh and tasty meals provided especially for our group, according to our requirements. We will either eat in dining room, or seated in the fabulous outside patios.
